Annual Financial Report 2025-26
It was another productive year for Albury Conservation Company as it strove to meet our organisational objectives. We highlight here the key initiatives in our Annual Financial Report 2025-26.
Completion of The Blueprint project
This project commenced with a goal to communicate the effectiveness of using scientific data to inform interventions that promote threatened species conservation. In partnership with the Ian Potter Foundation, the project was extended and broadened to showcase how Albury-Wodonga is successfully balancing urban growth with protecting threatened species and their habitats.
The final document “Balancing growth and nature: A Blueprint for guiding urban development through Conservation in the Albury Wodonga region” was released in March 2026.
Threatened Species Management Program
The Albury Conservation Company Threatened Species Monitoring Program has been monitoring Squirrel Gliders in the Albury-Wodonga Region since 2018. This year, through our ecologist Dylan McWhinney, the 2025 report has been substantially revised to focus on changes to Squirrel Glider presence over time. With a solid platform of data, the monitoring schedule has been reviewed to allow data collection that can start to address more complex issues raised in the report.
Through the year there was further development of scientific papers from a PhD sponsored by Albury Conservation Company, expected to be published next financial year.
Changing personnel in the organisation
This year we bid farewell to two people who have made a big contribution to Albury Conservation Company.
Damien Michael has been part of the Board for 7 years, providing expert guidance on our scientific programs particularly with Squirrel Gliders and Sloane’s Froglet.
Sophie Enders has been the Executive Officer for 3 years, guiding our large projects including The Blueprint and the Threatened Species Management Program.
Albury Conservation Company welcomed Melanie Massaro to the Board, with Chris Cook appointed as the new Executive Officer.
