New Executive Officer for Albury Conservation Company

Albury Conservation Company is excited to announce that it has appointed Chris Cook as its Executive Officer.

Chris is an experienced environmental leader who has had project and operational success in a variety of fields. He has a background in engineering and finance working on property and infrastructure projects with strong environmental credentials. Chris has built successful new businesses in emerging environment markets as well as coordinating landscape-scale projects across Victoria with organisations such as Trust for Nature and Parks Victoria. He is excited about joining a passionate community and helping develop conservation outcomes for the Albury Wodonga Region.

Chris joins the company at an important time as we look to finalise the development of a document which provides a Blueprint for balancing the conservation of threatened species with urban development in the Albury Wodonga complex, continue our long-term environmental monitoring of key species and look for more ways to engage the community in delivering better outcomes for the environment.

In addition to the Albury Wodonga Threatened Species Monitoring Program and Albury Wodonga Nature Map citizen science platform, the Albury Conservation Company has funded and facilitated threatened species research (e.g. Sloane’s Froglet, Squirrel Glider), delivered innovative conservation initiatives (e.g. Hollow-bearing tree mapping project, Thurgoona Men’s Shed Nest box Program) and pro-actively engaged and shared information with key audiences.

The company is currently concluding the development of a Blueprint for integrating nature conservation with urban development in conjunction with key partners.
